The Gate”

Launched in November 2014, “The Gate” was created specifically with the Bay Area in mind. Tired of and frustrated by the current trends in terrestrial radio, “The Gate” combines a unique mix of new and old rock with short talk segments (interviews, host banter and more). “The Gate” is a station for those individuals who share a passion for rock music – and not just the same songs played repeatedly – and want to hear new artists and new songs from established acts, while getting their taste of “comfort” rock along the way. It's also a station for people who care about what's going on in their community and want to hear an occasional interview and short discussions about local issues.

In short, “The Gate” is fresh, familiar and unpredictable.

Rob Hahn

Rob began his fascination with rock-n-roll and radio while visiting his grandparents just outside Chicago in the 1980s, where he spent hours in their den listening to WLUP (“The Loop”), WMET and later WXRT. While a junior in high school, he convinced (ie pestered) the general manager at KQAL, the Winona State University station, to give him a job. What followed were stints at WAOR in South Bend, WGN in Chicago and WCCO in Minneapolis/St. Paul before Rob launched a career as an entrepreneur.

With “The Gate,” Rob has created an entirely new radio sound for the Bay Area by including aspects of its rich history but also highlighting the Bay Area's electric music scene.

Rob is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!) and can usually be heard screaming loudly on Saturdays during college football season.
